Amy Mcloughlin
Teacher of Learning Support & SEN Coordinator
ISA Tianhe School

My experience at ISA Tianhe over the past two years has been nothing short of exceptional, which is why I am thrilled to have signed another three-year contract. From the moment I joined, I was embraced by a fantastic and organized HR team that streamlined my transition and made settling into my new apartment a breeze—transforming what could have been a stressful process into a seamless experience.
The leadership at ISA Tianhe has been incredibly supportive, consistently encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone and empowering me to accomplish goals I once thought were unattainable. The Senior Leadership Team fosters an open-door policy, always ready to lend an ear to my ideas and aspirations, and offering their support in both professional and personal matters with genuine empathy.
Working in a smaller school setting has allowed me to forge meaningful relationships with my colleagues, creating a collaborative and supportive atmosphere that feels almost familial. It’s heartwarming to see former students regularly, reinforcing our strong sense of community.
ISA Tianhe truly provides a warm and welcoming environment, where every idea is valued and you feel a genuine sense of purpose. This opportunity has been transformative for me, enabling me to realize my career aspirations in ways I never imagined possible. I am grateful to be part of such a remarkable institution.

Homeroom Foreign Teacher
ISA Tianhe School

I feel fortunate to have been a part of the lovely community at ISA Tianhe for the last two years and my perspective of this “home away from home” is as both a home room teacher and as a parent to a student at the school. The combined effort that takes place behind the scenes as well as the daily sense of ‘togetherness” go together to create something really special. An impeccable EY4 and Grade 5 Graduation as well as other events like students vs teachers football have illustrated to me how cohesive and friendly our community is.

The team of teachers at the school come from all over the world and in many cases have some years of experience living in China. Socially, there are different events organised outside of school which also helped us settle into Guangzhou.

A range of helpful departments such as HR, Parent Help Centre and the excellent Catering team, go a long way to making life at our school run smoothly, and the support given, helps in the wider context of living in China. Proactive and encouraging management has helped me keep up to date with a large range of professional learning opportunities and to develop immeasurably as a teacher. It is easy to understand why this International School has such a loyal following of local families and for me has been an exciting step both in teaching and with my family.

Ben Lepp
Primary Homeroom Teacher
ISA Science City School

Working at ISA Science City has been filled with both the opportunities I expected, but also many I didn’t. The chance to develop my understanding of IB program has been fully supported. Unexpectedly, I’ve had the chance to become an Apple Distinguished Educator, learning how to combine inquiry-based instruction with technology, as well as help build a swim program at the nicest pool facility I’ve ever worked in. The support of colleagues across the school has also enriched my experience at ISASC. Furthermore, living in Guangzhou has been surprising, a ‘megatropolis’ filled with multiple ways to explore nature, as well as enjoy whatever hobby you might have.

ISA Science City School

As a new teacher at ISA Science City, Guangzhou, I want to share my positive experiences to help you consider this opportunity. The Human Resources team worked tirelessly to assist with my transition, ensuring all my basic needs were met, from securing my visa to finding accommodation. The spacious, comfortable apartments are filled with natural light, and you can choose to live in the city or closer to the school. A convenient staff bus makes daily transport easy, allowing you to focus on teaching.
The leadership team is exceptional—they genuinely care about both staff and students and are committed to developing systems that meet world standards for IB International schools. Be prepared for a demanding workload, as the school is in its formative years and is building and growing. Teachers are encouraged to contribute to extracurricular activities, enriching the school community.
Overall, ISA Science City offers a supportive environment where you can grow personally and professionally while making a lasting impact on your students’ lives.

ISA Liwan School

ISA Liwan is the first and the only school I wanted to be part of when relocating to Guangzhou. The diligent and professional colleagues that I have the honour to work with each day have only surpassed my expectations for a qualified and forward thinking educational institution.
Expect to be challenged but be confident that you will feel the difference.

Olga Danilchuk
Teacher of Art
ISA Liwan School

The school has a positive vibe that creates a healthy and engaging environment for both students and teachers. I have been pleased to be welcomed into a warm and caring environment with experienced educators who have positive attitude and energy. This is a wonderful motivator for me to come to school every day happy and give my best effort.

Since the school is in its growth stage, there are many opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and create something that benefits our students. Whether that is to develop as an individual, experience different aspects of teaching or create a memorable event, we will grow together and support each other.

I personally believe that this is the place where you can untap your potential and can grow further in your role as a teacher or a leader.

The pursuit of excellence in education at ISA Liwan aligns perfectly with my motto: "With sincere effort, one can move mountains." It rejects mediocrity; if one does not strive, they remain silent, but when they do, they can achieve remarkable success. In the highly competitive environment at ISA Liwan, there is also a savvy, capable, and efficient leadership team that possesses strong professional qualities and high leadership skills while caring for both teachers and students. Additionally, ISA Liwan has a unique educational model, such as personalized teaching, a mentorship system, and small class sizes, allowing for tailored instruction that creates a positive feedback loop.

Wally Trevino
Teacher of English and Humanities
ISA Wuhan Wenhua School

Moving to Wuhan and joining the ISA family has been nothing short of exceptional. I’ve only been here a little over a month and everyone has shown me nothing but the utmost hospitality and professionalism. HR did a fantastic job ensuring my family was taken care of upon arrival. The best HR team in the twelve years I’ve been in China so far. Being a large educational institute, the atmosphere is remarkably that of a boutique type school. Everyone knows each other and zero hate or drama towards other staff members or leadership. The large faculty and staff are fully functioning and efficient, which provides tons of resources and avenues to get the job done. A lot of opportunities for PD-professional development and advancement if you want it. Everyone seems happy in their workplace which leaves no room for toxicity. I can’t ask for a better place to work other than where I’m at right now. I’m paid well, my kids got great schooling, after school activities and no one is micromanaging me. Teacher and student well-being are the priority here, everything else is a close second which provides an excellent opportunity for success all around.

ISA Wuhan International School

Reflecting on my journey as a founding member of the ISA Wuhan community over the past four years, I am filled with immense gratitude for the profound impact it has had on my professional life. From the very beginning, it was clear this was no ordinary institution; it was a place where quality wasn't just a buzzword, but a deeply embedded principle in everything we do.

What truly sets ISA Wuhan apart is its unwavering commitment to empowering its educators. I quickly realized that this is an environment where you are not only encouraged to advance your ideas but are actively supported in bringing them to life. Time and again, I have proposed new initiatives, and without fail, the leadership has provided the resources, trust, and guidance to see them flourish. This belief in my potential has allowed me to grow through various roles, each presenting new challenges and unparalleled opportunities for development.

The mark of quality is evident in every conversation, every project, and every strategic decision. ISA Wuhan hasn't just been a workplace; it has been the most significant catalyst for my professional development, for which I am endlessly thankful.

Life in Guangzhou & Wuhan

Italian city

Guangzhou, the third largest city in China, is a gateway in South China for travel. You can explore its unique Lingnan culture, legendary history, world famous Cantonese food and more. Guangzhou is located in the southeast of Guangdong province, in the north of the Pearl River Delta near Hong Kong and Macao. It is South China’s central transportation hub and trading port as well as the "south gate" of China. As the capital of Guangdong province, Guangzhou is a centre for politics, economy, technology, education and culture. Guangzhou is a famous cultural city with a history dating back 2200 years. Guangzhou has a population of approximately 18 million people. It is a sub-tropical city close to the Tropic of Cancer with mild weather and abundant rainfall. The four seasons are evergreen.

Transport in Guangzhou and Wuhan

Both cities have comprehensive, modern metro lines, expressways, international airports, inexpensive taxis, a bus system and Didi (taxi) services. It only takes 2 hours to travel from Guangzhou to Hong Kong and Macao by train or bus. Wuhan is a major transportation hub with high-speed rail connection to Beijing in the north, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the south, Shanghai in the east and Chongqing and Chengdu in the west. Both are very convenient locations for travelling in China and other places in Asia.

Italian city

Wuhan, a blend of history and modernity, Wuhan features the Yellow Crane Tower, East Lake, and a thriving culinary scene and is a transport hub in Central China. With a population of over 11 million, Wuhan is the capital and largest city of Hubei Province, the ninth-most populous Chinese city and one of the nine National Central Cities of China. The city lies in the eastern Jianghan Plain at the confluence of the Yangtze River and its largest tributary, the Han River, and is known as "Nine Provinces’ Thoroughfare". Wuhan is the political, economic, financial, commercial, cultural and educational centre of Central China. Located in the sub-tropical monsoon humid climate zone, it is characterised by abundant rainfall, sufficient sunshine, and four distinct seasons.

Shopping and Restaurants

Since Guangzhou is a long-standing first tier city and Wuhan is a new first tier city in China, there are many supermarkets which sell imported groceries, shopping malls, restaurants that cater for every taste, and gigantic local markets that provide goods for the world to import. Living in Guangzhou and Wuhan is a shopping paradise. There are also international department stores such as IKEA stores where teachers like to shop for household and school resources.
